Teaching Trauma-Informed and Inclusive Yoga

Have you ever worried about accidentally being offensive or making someone feel uncomfortable?

Trauma comes in many different forms. From living within systems of oppression, intergenerational trauma, to chronic or acute traumatic events, trauma can present in a variety of ways. And those with marginalized and intersecting identities are often experiencing trauma on multiple levels.

We know yoga can be healing and supportive for those who have experienced trauma. Yet yoga spaces often remain filled with white, thin, able-bodied women. So how can we begin to increase our inclusivity in these spaces and how can we adjust the way we teach to be inclusive and trauma-informed?

This training, led by Kanjana Hartshorne, LCSW, C-IAYT, CCFP, Reiki Master, will support yoga teachers and wellness professionals in how to create a safer and more welcoming environment for all. With special considerations for how to support those who have experienced racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, fat phobia, mental health stigma, and others forms of discrimination.
