Radiance Yoga LiveStream – Yin Yoga and Self-Myofascial Release with Heather Hare

Yin yoga invites us to work with the connective tissues of the body (fascia) with poses to open and nourish areas of restriction created through our everyday activities. The shapes are passive, allowing focused time to rest and restore. Self-myofascial release is a massage technique of applying continued pressure to an area of fascial tissue that contains restrictions, tightness and inflexibility. This workshop will combine the benefits of yin yoga with myofascial release.

We will practice self-inquiry through slow, mindful yin yoga to increase our understanding of the unique structures of our bodies, and to observe the way our minds respond to the challenge of holding ourselves in stillness. Through the use of tennis balls or therapy balls, we will target release of areas of commonly held tension. Self-massage techniques will cultivate a deeper and more subtle level of mind/body awareness. We will finish with a guided meditation and body scan to relax body and mind into deep rest.
