Anatomy: VIRTUAL Foundations of Anatomy & Biomechanics

October 23, 2020 @ 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Please note: This workshop is part of a larger, more extensive 30-hour training we are offering. For more information or to register for the entire 2 weekends, see “Foundations of Teaching Yoga” under the Teacher Training Tab.

This session is taught as a module of Anatomy in our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, but is now being offered as a special opportunity for students of all levels who want to deepen their understanding of specialized topics. 3 Continuing Education Credits available for those who are already yoga instructors.

Join studio owner, Doctor of Physical Therapist and Pilatist extraordinaire, Megan Brown, for a fun and interactive introduction to the Anatomy & Biomechanics of movement. This workshop will be a combination of lecture, dynamic discussion, movement, and breakout groups. Megan will guide practitioners through a jam-packed session full of valuable content you can apply right away. She emphasizes teaching in a way that promotes understanding, not memorizing, HOW and WHY muscles, bones, etc operate the way they do.

This workshop is ideal for anyone who wants to have a better understanding of how the human body moves, especially as it relates to yoga & Pilates practices.

$90 / Members receive 15% off
*This is a workshop, no refunds. If canceled within 24 hours studio credit may be available*

A bit about your teacher for this session: Megan Brown, PT, DPT, is co-owner of Mind the Mat, a Polestar Pilates Practitioner for Rehabilitation and Creator and lead teacher for HAWT Pilates Teacher Training. She and Sara Vandergoot started Mind the Mat in Del Ray over 12 years ago. In our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program Megan teaches the Anatomy and Biomechanics modules. Many programs include the “what” part of learning Anatomy but we prioritize the “how,” the “why” and teaching critical thinking skills necessary to lead a safe, fun and creative class. Learning from a physical therapist and a movement background outside of yoga, our trainees get a very well-rounded perspective.
