Yin & Yoga Nidra with Angelique Raptakis

Yin yoga is a very grounding, passive, meditative practice, that allow the muscles to relax and gain deeper access to the joints and connective tissues of the body (the tendons, ligaments, and fascia) with the aim of increasing circulation and hydration to the joint capsules and these body tissues. Variations of seated and supine poses are held for longer periods of time, with a minimum of 3-5 minutes. Yin yoga takes a meditative approach to yoga, cultivating awareness and inner silence.

Yoga Nidra, or Yogic Sleep, is meditative practice that is a state of consciousness between being awake and asleep. It is the deepest state of relaxation while remaining awake, where the body is completely relaxed and the inner consciousness remains aware and awake. A method with conscious relaxation and visualization, it has been proven to rejuvenate the entire body-mind-spirit system.

Yoga Nidra is an effective technique for deep relaxation, providing the opportunity to fully relax physically, mentally, and emotionally, as you are guided through each layer of being, the Koshas. This allows for the release of stress and energetic blockages. The practice of yoga nidra has been found to reduce tension and anxiety, can contribute to the healing process of sleep disorders, chronic pain, burnout, and migraines, reduce stress, help with chronic pain, healing of trauma, amongst other benefits.

During this 2-hour session, Angelique will guide you through a series of seated Yin Yoga poses before resting into a fully supported savasana and the practice of yoga nidra to completely envelope the body into relaxation. This class will create a space of healing, relaxation and rest. Treat yourself to these combined modalities and experience the ultimate healing practice for your body, mind and soul.

Class size for this special event is limited to 12 people. Please register in advance.

About your guide:

Angelique Raptakis is a RYT-500 Yoga Teacher, certified Reiki Master, and certified Community Herbalist who looks to nature for inspiration, weaving its lessons into her classes. She believes that through the practice of yoga, we can more easily come to the connection between our body, our breath, our mind, and the universe we find ourselves in.
