NATURE YOGA: Escape to India- Vrindavan, Agra, Rishikesh with Gopi Om

February 5 - February 16


Take a trip to life-altering India. Explore ancient cities, experience holy sites, learn from the teachings of experienced masters, and be inspired by the work of local non-profits helping people and animals.
This is a safe and comfortable way to see a new country in the company of a group of like-minded travel companions. Both Gopi and her boyfriend, Dan, have spent time traveling around India both together and solo. They have picked up a few tricks along the way and are happy to share in order to make your time enjoyable and stress free.

Final itinerary will be set once all participants are registered. Some dates/times may change based on the availability/timing of in-country travel. A final itinerary will be sent to registered attendees.

Day 1 (Monday, February 5th) – After arriving in Delhi, you will be picked up and taken to a nearby hotel to rest before we set out again. We will meet up as a group and enjoy breakfast at the hotel before traveling to the holy village of Vrindavan.

Days 2 – 4 (Tuesday, February 6th – Thursday, February 8th) – We’ll explore the holy village of Vrindavan, the birthplace of Krishna, visiting the many local temples and sacred sites. We’ll spend time brushing rescued street cows, and see the work of some of the other social programs helping children and families. We’ll hear stories about the pastimes of Radha, Krishna, and the gopis in the Vrindavan forest. We’ll visit ancient temples and surrounding holy sites along the sacred Yamuna River.

Days 5-6 (Friday, February 9th – Saturday, February 10th) – We will travel to Agra to see the Taj Mahal, a UNESCO World Heritage Center, stopping to visit a sanctuary for rescued Indian Elephants along the way.

Day 7 (Sunday, February 11th) – We’ll travel as a group from Agra through Haridwar (“The Door to God”) and on to Rishikesh, in the Himalayan foothills along the beautiful Ganges River.

Days 8-9 (Monday, February 12th – Wednesday, February 14th) – Rishikesh! Visit temples and holy sites in this ancient home of Sadhus. Take a dip in the holy Ganges River, which is said to wash away all sin. Enjoy an international atmosphere in this town visited by people from all over the world. We’ll be here for the devotional Maha Shivaratri festival, an all-night celebration of Shiva.

Days 11-12 (Thursday, February 15th – Friday, February 16th) – We’ll return to Delhi in order to spend the night on the 15th before traveling home on the 16th/early in the morning on the 17th. Depending on your schedule, we’ll have all day on the 16th to explore the city and do any final shopping or sightseeing in Delhi.

The investment for this trip is $2495, double occupancy. $3695, single occupancy.

Reserve your spot with a deposit of $700. Payments are non-refundable. Spaces are limited.

Includes all travel within India, the majority of daily meals, yoga practices, and group excursions.

Does not include flight to India, travel Visa, some meals, and shopping money.

Final payment is needed by September 30th, 2017 in order to finalize all travel plans in advance of our trip. This also gives you enough time to secure the needed travel Visa and to get any vaccines you may decide are appropriate. You should also have a current passport by this date with an expiration date after 2018.

Travel Tips:
India is a chaotic experience, especially if it is you first time there. Please plan for things not to go according to plan. Traveling by road and rail in India is an unbeatable way to see the country.

Please do not pack more than you can personally carry with you as it will make travel much easier! Leave space in your bags for items you may buy in India. Indian clothing is very practical and readily-available.

India is a land of chaos. Our itinerary is planned for exploration, restoration, and comfort.

Accommodations will be clean, safe, and comfortable, but may be more rustic than you are used to, so please calibrate your expectations.

Many of the cities we will be in are exclusively vegetarian and also prohibit drinking. As this is a yoga retreat, we will ask that you observe a vegetarian diet, avoid drinking alcohol or consuming any non-prescription drugs, or smoking, and also that you dress respectfully according to local customs for the temples and other holy sites that we will visit.

Booking Your Flight:
Arrival – You will arrive to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Airport by the morning of February 5th. Some flights land in the very early morning (around 2am). Make sure to check the date of arrival as it can be a day or two after departure depending on your itinerary. Please plan to arrive sometime on February 4th or very early morning on February 5th.

Departure – Flights traveling back from India to the United States are usually very late at night/early in the morning. Please make sure to book your flight home late at night on the 16th or early in the morning of the 17th.
