#GivingTuesday DC Edition!

Tuesday, November 28th marks the beginning of the season of giving and is widely know as #GivingTuesday.  While yogis are known for giving year round, the holiday time is a great reminder to help those in need.

If you’re looking to participate in the season of giving, we’ve pulled together a few local options in line with our yoga vision.  The organizations listed below have official non-profit status which means your donation is also tax deductible.

VETOGA’s mission is to provide yoga, meditation, and healing arts to military, veterans, their families, and communities. VETOGA provides access to a range of healing modalities to facilitate healthy minds, bodies and spirits. The organization’s programs include free monthly yoga classes, events and veteran specific 200-Hour Teacher Trainings throughout the year. Teacher Trainings equip veterans with the holistic tools and teachings to continue to pass on the healing power of yoga. Learn how you can help here.

One Common Unity

Through arts-based peace education in schools, summer youth initiatives and through festivals and concerts, OCU has assisted young people in telling their stories and sharing them with others. OCU teaches people how to create media, arts, and music that reflect the stories of those working diligently to create communities which honor and respect one another and understand our inherent equality and interdependence. OCU believes violence is a learned behavior, and therefore, if someone can be taught violence, they can also be taught compassion, cooperation, and the skills necessary to create healthy mutually-beneficial relationships and thriving communities.
