Yogic Lifestyle: VIRTUAL Yoga of Science

October 25 @ 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Please note: This workshop is part of a larger, more extensive 30-hour training we are offering. For more information or to register for the entire 2 weekends, see “Foundations of Teaching Yoga” under the Teacher Training Tab.

This session is taught as a module of Yogic Lifestyle in our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, but is now being offered as a special opportunity for students of all levels who want to deepen their understanding of specialized topics. 2.5 Continuing Education Credits available for those who are already yoga instructors.

The conversation between the experiential wisdom tradition of yoga and the evidence-based tradition of science has exploded in recent years, and articles are published almost every day offering scientific “proof” for the benefits of yoga and meditation. But this workshop turns that relationship on its head, and explores how insights and ideas from the yoga tradition have shown up in today’s cutting edge scientific discoveries and shaped the direction of entire fields, from psychology to neuroscience. It’s a chance not just to nourish your inner nerd, but to explore how the power of ideas can change the way you practice.

$90 / Members receive 15% off
*This is a workshop, no refunds. If canceled within 24 hours studio credit may be available*

A bit about your teacher for this session: Sam Chase is new to our Yoga Teacher Training faculty and we are honored to host him as a guest teacher for this workshop. Sam designs and delivers programs in mindfulness, yoga and resilience for organizations nationwide, and specializes in working with communities that serve in high-stress circumstances. He has shared yoga principles and practices with world leaders through a yoga and meditation program he developed for staff at the United Nations, and also with the service men and women of the National Guard. He developed a 200-hour training program for public school teachers at the NYC Department of Education, and is currently delivering a mindful resilience program to the nursing staff battling COVID at the Brooklyn Hospital Center. Sam has facilitated the education of more than 1500 yoga and mindfulness teachers in over 50 programs throughout the last decade. He is the author of Yoga & the Pursuit of Happiness, a book that bridges the ivory tower research and esoteric philosophy surrounding meditation in a down-to-earth style that helps everyday people build an accessible, transformative practice. He is certified to teach by the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, the largest yoga center in the nation, where he also holds a certificate in Positive Psychology. He received his Master’s Degree at Harvard University’s A.R.T. Institute.
