Mindfulness: An 8-Month Program to Reduce Stress, Increase Self-Awareness and Wake-Up to Life

The dictionary defines mindfulness as a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations.

Jon Kabat-Zinn, creator of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program, defines it as, “being fully awake in our lives. It is about perceiving the exquisite vividness of each moment”

For most of us, when this vividness occurs, it is unexpected, maybe while walking on a mountain trail on a crisp autumn day, or being so focused in work or play that you are not thinking about past or future, or connecting with someone in a way that makes it seems like time is standing still. This state of being alive and whole in the present moment is always available, but it typically eludes us, especially in times of difficulty and external pressures.

Join Karen Andujar for an 8-month exploration into mindfulness where you will learn tools to cope with stress and challenges of everyday life, and learn how to be fully present and alive in the moment.

What to expect:
Each session will include a short hatha yoga practice (10-15 min), discussion, and mindfulness meditation practices and interactive exercises. Each month will focus on a different topic, including, the science and myths of mindfulness, the power of awareness, mindful listening, focused and open awareness, working with our private voice, mindful eating and drinking, and mindful movement.
Participants that sign-up for the entire 8-mos. program will receive a mindfulness handbook, and there will be an optional book club throughout the course.

Cost: $400 or Drop-in Option: $50 per session
