I’m a heavy sweater. It’s not only disgusting, it’s also a pain in the butt. I find myself slipping and sliding all over my mat. I feel like I’m disrupting other students. What should I do?

First off, lots of people sweat in yoga classes. Lots of people leave puddles on their mats. So I don’t see it as disgusting but more something that happens to a lot of people. I actually see sweat as kind of sexy and healthy. It’s all about perspective.

But yes, the slipping and sweating on others can be a bit much. Your best bet is to get a mat towel. The most popular is yogitoes. You simply place it over your mat when you start to sweat and it will absorb your sweat so you won’t slip. Also bring a small towel with you to wipe as you go.

And I’m guessing you’ve never taken hot yoga because in those classes EVERYONE is drenched. So it doesn’t feel as weird when everyone is a big sweaty mess. Try one and you will see what I mean.
