Holy Days

The word “holiday” comes from “holy day,” meaning it is a sacred time, a time outside of time.  Especially at the end of our year and as our days grow short, we slow down.  Taking advantage of three special days in only six weeks, the days in-between are busy.  You barely have time to clean […]

Yoga: Solitary or Social?

For almost two years, I’ve been writing about how to do more yoga on your own.  Even online classes have you doing yoga on your own mostly.  It’s different than being in the room with other yogis and your teacher — the group energy clearly contributes to your physical prowess and yogic state.  But the […]

Happiness or Bliss?

I went for a walk alongside a lake, enjoying the beauty of nature.  The trees and the sky were reflected in the lake’s surface, a scene that inspires tranquility and happiness — that’s why so many people go for walks in nature. I came to a creek that fed into the lake and watched a […]

You’ve Got Skills

You know how to drive, to manage household and personal needs, even to manage other people and their needs.  Your education and professional skills make you able to adapt to changing times, like now.  But your self-care skills might need some improvement.  The current pandemic conditions may prompt another round of pandemic panic.  It’s time […]

What Have You Learned?

After more than a year of pandemic precautions, what have you learned?  You probably learned to stay home more, to spend less money and how to use technology to connect with others.  Hopefully you also learned how you feel when you do more yoga. Your priorities have been rearranged.  You didn’t choose to do this.  […]

Joy!  Jubilation!  Trepidation?

I’m ready to rip off my mask and dance around the room in glee.  Fully vaccinated, no mask required and I can even sit and chat with people again – I’m ready to go.  But I’m seeing others move into it more slowly.  What’s going on? Is your inner peace dependent on being isolated?  Is […]

No More Hiding, Really?

I went inside at Starbucks yesterday without a mask.  Yes, I’m fully vaccinated.  It was the 15th day after my final shot.  I could smile at the barista who took my order.  It was lovely!   And it felt strange.  I’m used to hiding, hiding my face and even hiding in my home.  How long will […]

Priorities!

Now that the world is available to you again, or almost there, what are your priorities?  You gave up so much in the last year, so maybe you want to get it all going again.  Or maybe not.  This last year has changed you.  It’s changed the world we live in and it’s changed you.  […]
